25 Challenger

he first thing you will notice upon entering the Maritime Challenger pilothouse is the excellent visibility that the large heavy-duty commercial windows provide; these are the same type used on Coast Guard patrol boats and within seconds you will appreciate their functionality. All dash surfaces and the convenient overhead radio box have a dark non-glare surface to reduce reflections onto the windshield. Two-speed, heavy-duty wipers with pantograph arms feature long blades, providing a clean horizontal sweep of the windshield which is important should you find yourself offshore in heavy weather.

The pilothouse features opening front windows, sliding side windows, a roof hatch, and a removable aft drop curtain provide ventilation inside the pilothouse. A large 10″ x 21″ instrument pod easily accommodates flush mount electronics and a 16″ x 36″ chart table with fiddle and grab rail provide additional storage surface for equipment and gear. Headroom in the pilothouse is 6’4”.

Two people can comfortably spend the night in the cuddy due to the large 7’ long V-Berths. Standing headroom in the cuddy is 4′ 10″ and sitting headroom above the cushion set is 37″ aft and 32″ forward. There are generous storage areas in the cuddy forepeak area and aft under the pilothouse floor. With the v-berth filler in place, the bunk area is 6′ 8″ at its widest. Beneath the cushions there is room for a portable toilet or fixed marine head.

Cuddy ventilation and natural light is provided by an overhead 17″ x 17″ hatch. 4″ x 14″ side ports with screens increase airflow at night, as does the lockable bi-fold door which has abundant screened louvers to allow natural air circulation.

Cockpit & Bow

On the bow you’ll find side deck width starts at 10-1/2″, and gets progressively wider as you walk past the low profile trunk cabin. Conveniently located cabin rails and a high-pattern bow rail provide added security as you maneuver forward. Both side decks and the cabin top have a gritty non-skid surface. A large anchor locker is located on the port side forward, it drains overboard and is deep enough for fender storage.

Deck hardware on the Challenger is heavy-duty throughout. 10″ stainless deck cleats are bolted through the deck and the hull flange, resulting in an attachment system far superior to deck-only mounted hardware. Mid-ship cleats are standard. The stainless bow bitt and its companion 6″ bow chock are adequately sized for large mooring pendants. The bow rail is 1″ stainless and starts at 20″ deepening to 24″ forward. The house rails curve down the trailing edge of the house wings for added security when climbing up or down from the side decks. The roof rail and seat rails provide great cockpit handholds.

Our top priority when we designed the 25 Challenger was to ensure that the impressive ride and performance characteristics of the 23 Challenger were duplicated in the 25 footer. Our hard work paid off, the 25 Challenger takes the renown “Maritime Ride” to a whole new level.

The 8’6” beam, wide 6”chines and moderate 14 degree aft deadrise provide incredible stability and a shallow draft of 14”, quite amazing for a 25’ boat. The flat running characteristic of the Maritime hull and the 50 degree deadrise of the bow allow the Challenger to split the waves while the rounded bow and extreme flare deflects spray away from passengers and crew.

The 25 Challenger has a top speed of between 42-47 MPH, however the boat performs well with a single 200-225 HP motor and can deliver excellent fuel efficiency of less than 8 GPH at cruise speed of 26 MPH. All our models have ethanol friendly polyethylene fuel tanks; range of a 25 Challenger’s 83 gallon tank is in excess of 200 miles.
