25 Defiant

About the 25 Defiant

The 25 Defiant is identical to the 23’ model except for the aft section of the cockpit and transom. The larger cockpit of the 25’ model comes standard with a 48” wide rear fold-away bench seat that also serves as a bolster when fishing. Integrated into the transom is a large convenient fishbox/ storage locker that drains overboard.

We spent over a year testing the performance characteristics of the full width fiberglass hull extension that is integral to all our 25’ models. We kept refining the design until we succeeded in achieving our goal of ensuring that all the impressive ride and performance characteristics of the 23 Defiant were duplicated in the 25′ model.

Single or Twin Outboards

The full width stern platform can handle single or twin outboards up to a total boat maximum of 300 HP, it also serves as an excellent swim platform when equipped with an optional swim ladder. Based on the testing and performance characteristics conducted on both the 25 Challenger and 25 Patriot models we estimate that the 25 Defiant will easily reach a top speed of between 42-47 MPH with maximum horsepower, but like all Maritimes will also perform well with modest horsepower for excellent fuel efficiency.

The 25 Defiant center console has the same interior layout of the 23’ model. The 42″ wide console has a raised gauge pod for flush-mounted electronics, a flat area large enough for charts and binoculars, heavy-duty 3/8″ aerodynamic windshield, 1″ wrap-around console rail, front seat, and a lockable bi-fold door with stainless lockset. Once you crawl through the console door, headroom is a surprising 50″, enough to sit on a Porta-Potti. The step-down in the floor measures 30″ wide x 7′ 8″ long. A factory option (only available at time of order) called the “rod tip extension package” increases the length of this space another 2′ so rods up to 7′ 6″ can be stored below decks.

Adding the optional heavy-duty T-Top complete with radio box and rod holders, livewell and raw water washdown will quickly transform the 25 Defiant into a serious offshore fishing machine.

Similar to all Maritimes, the 25 Defiant is manufactured with 100% composite materials and gets a lot of its strength from the all fiberglass grid system that is firmly bonded to the hull. The foam filled grid and floor sections beneath the floor not only make the boat “unsinkable” but also add stiffness and dampens hull noise. The new aggressive non-skid deck pattern combined with the self bailing cockpit makes the boat easy to clean and maintain. There is a choice for an all white interior cockpit or the traditional Maritime solid grey interior, both which utilize the highest quality gel coats for maximum durability and wear resistance.

The 50 degree bow deadrise knifes through rough water while the rounded bow and extreme flare deflects the spray down and away keeping everyone dry and comfortable. The moderate 14 degree aft deadrise contributes to the extreme stability of the boat and keeps the draft down to a convenient 14 inches. The 8’6” beam allows boaters to easily walk around the standard 42” console and 34” leaning post and provides more than enough cockpit space to accommodate the optional 32 gallon Kodiak livewell, coolers and gear needed for weekend adventures.

The 25 Defiant provides hydraulic steering, trim tabs with LED indicators, 10″ stainless steel chocks and a 83 gallon polyethylene fuel tank with WEMA sender as standard equipment. You will be surprised how quickly the 25’ Defiant jumps on plane, usually around 12 MPH, and regardless of your speed the boat’s hull design runs flat for excellent visibility and fuel efficiency.

The 25’ Defiant has a minimum horsepower rating of 150 which can reach a top speeds in the mid 30 MPH range. Although capable of handling twin 150 HP motors for impressive speeds of close to 50 MPH it is more reasonable to power the 25 Defiant with a single 225 HP motor where there is a comfortable balance of speed and fuel efficiency. At cruise speed the range of the 25 Defiant with a single 225 HP motor is estimated to be 200 miles achieving 3.2 GPH and using less then 7.0 GPH.
