About the 25 Classic

About the 25 Classic

The 25 Classic is our largest Express style model sharing all of the top side cabin and cuddy features of the 23’ Classic but noticeably different with it’s closed transom and a full width stern platform that can handle single or twin outboards. Built into the transom is a large fishbox/storage locker that drains overboard, in the stern there is a comfortable fold-away rear bench seat which when folded acts like a bolster.

Adding optional aft facing seats will provide comfortable seating for six adults and even with a full crew you will be amazed at how much useable cockpit space is available for fishing or additional guests. With a total boat maximum of 300 HP the 25 Classic will deliver plenty of strength, speed and style; but like all Maritimes will perform exceptionally well with modest horsepower so you can achieve great fuel efficiency.

The distinct feature of all Classic models is the aluminum framed windshield, welded for strength and powder coated white for good looks. Convenient outside handrails are thoughtfully positioned on the sides of the windshield frame to help make accessing the bow area safe and easy. An inside center grab rail for the driver or navigator comes standard, just in case you need it. The windshield features clear glass for unobstructed visibility and thanks to the non-glare dash, annoying reflections are minimized. Large ventilation wing vents on both sides of the windshield can be opened to scoop fresh air into the helm area during hot summer days.

Visibility from the helm is outstanding, even when accelerating, due to Maritime’s minimal bow rise. If you decide to stand, the seats slide aft 6″ providing leaning post like comfort and if you’re taller than 5′ 8″, you’ll be able to see over the windshield frame.

The Classic stylishly accommodates an optional canvas bimini for overhead sun and rain protection while the optional seven –piece weather curtain set, including bimini, front and side Strataglass windows and three-piece zippered rear drop curtain can turn the Classic into an all–weather contender. Bows and hardware on the weather curtain set are all 316 grade stainless steel. The rear drop curtain has three panels; the center section easily rolls up or can be removed. When the top is furled aft, a convenient boot secures loose canvas.

The size of the cuddy on the 23 and 25 Classic is identical with standing headroom inside of 4′ 10″, sitting head-room of 37″ and impressive 7’ bunks. Natural light and cuddy ventilation is provided by an overhead 17″ x 17″ hatch. Two 4″ x 14″ side ports with screens and a lockable bi-fold door with screened louvers positioned high and low help induce natural air circulation. There are two conveniently placed red/white dome lights in the cuddy and a storage compartment in the forepeak bulkhead has room for soft gear as well as a huge under-floor compartment aft that is ideal for duffle bags, deck chairs and life jackets.

Both the 23’ and 25 Classic come standard with a comfortable fabric-covered four-piece cushion, a popular option frequently installed in the cuddy is a portable toilet or full marine head and pump out system.

Seating Details

Helmsman and companion seats are mounted on tall 26″ seat boxes with lockable ventilated doors. Even though you sit high, for better lookdown lines of sight, you remain comfortable because the footrests are conveniently positioned. The navigator has a bulkhead handrail and a side coaming rail within easy reach. Using the rear fold-away bench seat and adding optional aft facing seats will allow six adults to sit comfortably.

Cockpit and Transom

The closed transom design of the 25 Classic provides tremendous functionality and versatility. Even with a full crew there is plenty of room to fish or relax with additional guests around a small table. An aggressive non-skid deck pattern combined with a self bailing cockpit make the boat easy to clean and maintain. There is a choice for an all white interior cockpit or the traditional Maritime solid grey interior, both which utilize the highest quality gel coats for maximum durability and wear resistance.

Construction & Strength

Built around a 100% composite hull, deck and grid system, the 25 Classic has all the strength and dependability Maritimes are known for. The foam filled grid and compartments beneath the floor not only make the boat “unsinkable” but also add stiffness and dampen hull noise. While some manufacturers choose not to incorporate flotation in their larger models, all Maritime boats, regardless of length are built to the highest safety levels utilizing closed celled foam flotation to provide “unsinkable” safety and security for you and your family.

The deck hardware on the Classic is heavy-duty 316 stainless steel. Strong 10″ stainless deck cleats are bolted through the deck and the hull flange, resulting in an attachment system far superior to deck-only mounted hardware. Mid-ship cleats are standard as are the stainless bow bitt and its companion 6″ bow chock, both adequately sized for large mooring pendants. The wrap around bow rail is 1″ stainless and starts at 20″ high deepening to 24″ forward. Side deck width starts at 10-1/2″ and gets progressively wider as you walk toward the bow. A large anchor locker is located forward on the port side, its also large enough to store fenders.

The 8’6” beam, wide 6” chines and moderate 14 degree aft deadrise provide incredible stability and a shallow draft of 14”. The flat running characteristic of the Maritime hull and the 50 degree deadrise of the bow allow the Classic to efficiently part the waves while the rounded bow and extreme flare deflects spray away from passengers and crew.

Powered with a 225HP motor running at a cruise speed of 25-26 MPH it is estimated that the 25 Classic will deliver greater than 3.0 MPG while burning less than 8.0 GPH. All Maritimes have ethanol friendly polyethylene fuel tanks, range of a 25 Classic’s 83 gallon tank is in excess of 250 miles. With maximum horsepower the 25 Classic will reach speeds in excess of 45 MPH.
