Ocean House Marina Now Carrying Scout Boats

Rob Lyons, President and CEO of Ocean House Marina in Charlestown, RI, has announced the addition of Scout fishing boats to their line of high quality watercrafts. Scout is on the cutting edge of design and offers fiberglass boats from 15 to 22 feet that are perfect for the marina’s demographics of boat owners who love to fish, clam, crab and water-ski on the coastal inlets and salt ponds estuaries of Southern Rhode Island.

“These boats do very well because they’re smaller, lighter and have a shallow draft so they fit perfectly with what we need in our area,” Lyons says. “On the other hand, they go all the way up to 34 feet for those who want to go offshore. They have a whole great series of fishing boats.”

Ocean House Marina is a family owned and operated business so working with companies like Scout and Regulator that are also family owned is important to them. Lyons likes the personal touch these companies offer because that’s how Ocean House Marina prefers to do business too. Both companies are also partners with Yamaha Marine and Ocean House Marina is one of the top dealers for Yamaha Outboard engines in the Northeast. Other brands carried by Ocean House include: Hydra-Sports, Maritime, Hurricane, Polar Kraft, Sunfish, and Godfrey Pontoon Boats (Aqua Patio, Sanpan and Sweetwater).

The full service marina, located at 60 Town Dock Road on scenic Ninigret Pond is also pleased to announce the completion of the first phase of their expansion plan and the beginning of the phase two. Just over a year ago, in December, they purchased three acres of land across from Ninigret Park off Route 1A in Charlestown, located three miles from their marina. They have already built a service and storage facility there with an 80 boat rack system that makes it easier to access boats in the winter for service and repair. The storage building will allow them to de-clutter the yard around the marina. Phase two of the expansion will start this spring when they put up a 5000-square-foot service facility to cater to all their customers who come by trailer.

“Our service business has grown over the years to the point that even though we have a very nice facility here at the marina, we can’t hire any more mechanics because we don’t have any more room to work,” Lyons says. “This will enable us to be much more efficient.”
