Hurricane Boat Hauling Policy

In the event that coastal Rhode Island is included in a projected path of a hurricane or tropical storm, Ocean House Marina has a set of guidelines that will be in effect and will enable us to service as many customers as possible.
  1. All boat owners whose boats are located outside of Ninigret Pond, must notify us a minimum of 72 hours prior to possible landfall.
  2. All boat owners whose boats are located inside Ninigret Pond must notify us a minimum of 48 hours prior to possible landfall.
  3. Boats will be hauled on a first come, first serve basis.
  4. Ocean House Marina will not be responsible for damages in the event we are not able to haul the boat and will not be held responsible for boat damages incurred during the storm. Please contact your insurance company for applicable coverage.
  5. It is the responsibility of the boat owner to call and give directions for hauling their boat.  Boats docked at Ocean House marina will be hauled at owner’s expense in the event that a Hurricane Watch is issued for the area by local authorities.
  6. Customers who are not docked at Ocean House Marina are asked to deliver their boat to the marina to save time from us traveling to their location. Please call ahead prior to doing so.
  7. Due to time restraints, boats will be stored at the closest storage facility.
  8. Hauling charges are $8.00/foot to haul the boat and $8.00/foot to re-launch if so desired.  Additional charges apply to boats not hauled from Ocean House Marina.
When requesting hauling of your boat, please provide the following information:
  1. Location of the boat and trailer (if applicable).
  2. Location of the keys for the boat.
  3. Registration Number
Suggested Guidelines for securing your boat in preparation for bad weather:
  1. Lower antennas and any other equipment that is raised above the boat such as outriggers.
  2. Lower, secure, and/or remove all bimini tops, enclosures, or curtains.
  3. Be sure automatic bilge pumps are operating correctly.
  4. Clean deck drains and remove any debris from your boat.
  5. Double up your dock lines and check for chaffing.
  6. Mooring hardware should be double checked.
  7. Attach a safety line.
