*Outgoing tides at the mouth of the Charlestown Breachway can pose challenging sea conditions to boaters, especially during the presence of ocean swell. When outgoing tides meet incoming waves the sea conditions can deteriorate. Incoming tides are preferable when exiting and entering the Breachway, especially when there's a significant sea state presence.

*When swell levels are flat, both incoming and outgoing tides allow for favorable boating conditions.
